The Local Area
Our holiday cottages, the Great Barn and the Hall itself are the surviving remains of the once great house owned by Sir James Hobart, Attorney General to Henry VII. Set amidst the undulating, wooded countryside of South Norfolk, there are many reasons why visitors enjoy their stay here, not least of which is the peace and quiet hereabouts.
The lanes that lead here go nowhere else, and Hales Hall is at the hub of South Norfolk, with many interesting places to visit. The riverside market towns of Loddon, Beccles and Bungay are all just minutes away, and the ideal places to hire a river boat, try your hand at a spot of fishing, relax with a round of golf or just while away the time rummaging through the local antique shops.
Historic houses, stunning gardens and specialist nurseries abound, and if wildlife is your pleasure, then you'll love the birds, bats and butterflies that enjoy the local area. Explore the miles of local footpaths or rest yourself in the garden by the moat.
Those with a yearning for the sea are similarly spoiled for choice; Victorian Southwold, the delightful home of the celebrated Adnams' Brewery and Great Yarmouth for the traditional seaside break. There are smaller fishing villages to explore, such as Orford with its oysters and Aldeburgh and its numerous art galleries. Whatever tyour taste, it's all less than 30 minutes away from Hales Hall. |
